SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar field hockey's (11-6, 3-3 CSAC) seniors took center stage in the team's 7-0 victory over the Meredith Avenging Angels (1-9) on senior day.
Senior
Brigitte Gorman (Chesapeake, Va.) got the Vixens on the board a little over eight minutes into the match off an assist from first-year
Jolin Daughety (Williamsburg, Va.). The pair would connect again a little over a minute later and one more time 21 seconds into the second quarter to give Sweet Briar the 3-0 lead.
A goal from first-year
Kailey McCarthy (Atkinson, N.H.) with three minutes remaining in the second increased the Vixens lead to four going into the half.
Not done for the day, Gorman would score her fourth and fifth goals of the match four and seven minutes into third quarter.
First-year
Mia Alcoba's (Berlin, N.J.) first goal of her collegiate career closed out the third, and the Vixens' scoring run, bring the match to its eventual 7-0 close.
Highlights
- Senior Janie Bolling (Hereford, Md.) started the first half of the match while first-years Trina Kinnevy (West Creek, N.J.) and Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) also got looks in goal.
- This marks Gorman's first four-game goal of her career.
- Daughety set a new career-high with her three assists.

Sweet Briar will close out the season with a three-game road trip to Southern Virginia, Hood and Bryn Athyn on Oct. 27, 30 and 31, respectively.
