LANCASTER, Pa. – Sweet Briar field hockey (7-2, 2-1 CSAC) overcame a late push by the Lancaster Bible Chargers (1-9, 0-3 CSAC) to win the match in overtime, 2-1.
The game was tight from the start, with the teams deadlocked at zero going into the half. Ten minutes into the third quarter, first-year
Lara Jost (Würzburg, Germany) would find sophomore
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) to get the Vixens on the board with the 1-0 lead.
The game wouldn't end there, as the Chargers would tie it up with less than three minutes left to send play into overtime.
However, overtime wouldn't last long thanks to junior
Colleen Goodly (Yorktown, Va.). Goodly scored on a penalty stroke to end the overtime period with a 2-1 victory for Sweet Briar.
