SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar field hockey (8-2, 3-1 CSAC) handedly defeated the Ferrum Panthers (3-8, 0-1 ODAC) 6-0 to get the season sweep over the former ODAC rival.
After defeating the Panthers 5-0 earlier in the season, the Vixens came out ready to top that performance, tallying five goals in the first quarter. Sophomore
Brynna Hughes (Richmond, Va.), first-year
Lara Jost (Würzburg, Germany) and senior
Brigitte Gorman (Chesapeake, Va.) would each beat the Ferrum goalkeeper once, while sophomore
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) would add two goals of her own for the large lead heading into the second.
Jones would complete the hat trick less than three minutes into the second quarter to put Sweet Briar up 6-0.

Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) help protect the win for starter senior
Janie Bolling (Hereford, Md.) would bring the game to its eventual 6-0 close.
