PAXTON, Mass. – Sweet Briar field hockey (8-3, 3-1 CSAC) dropped its first-ever match against the Ann Maria Amcats (4-8, 2-4 GNAC) 5-1.
It was a hard fought match by both teams which saw Anna Maria take a 2-0 lead into the half after scoring goals in the first and second quarters.
Two more goals in the third quarter and one in the fourth increased the Amcats lead to 5-0. However, the Vixens would end the game on a high note with a successful penalty stroke from junior
Colleen Goodly (Yorktown, Va.).
Highlights
- This is Goodly's second successful penalty stroke conversion this season along with the OT winner against Lancaster Bible on Oct. 3
- Goodly is 2-0 on penalty stroke opportunities.
What's Next
Sweet Briar looks to bounce back with four games scheduled for next week. First, they will take on Randolph-Macon at Amherst County High School on Oct. 13. The Vixens will then hit the road for three-straight games against Cedar Crest, Wells and Morrisville State on Oct. 15, 16 and 17, respectively.
