Bailey, Chase tally as Cougars top Vixens

DANVILLE, Va. — Sophomores Kaylah Bailey and Zerah Chase both found the back of the net on Wednesday afternoon as the Vixens dropped a 22-2 decision to Averett at Campbell Stadium.

The Cougars answered Chase's goal with eight-straight goals until Bailey (Virginia Beach, Va.) tallied her third goal of the season. Bailey's goal took the two sides to halftime with Averett up 15-2 on the visiting Vixens (0-2).

Averett scored seven unanswered goals in the second period to secure the 22-2 victory.

Senior Madison Harpham (Monroe, Va.) led Sweet Briar with four ground balls, while also tallying two caused turnovers. First-year Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) also caused a pair of turnovers. Roberts led the Vixens with a pair of draw controls.

In goal, first-year Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded 12 saves for the Vixens.
