FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — In its first road trip of the season, the Sweet Briar tennis program suffered a 7-2 setback to Methodist at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Vixens (1-1) earned their first team point of the day at No. 1 doubles, where sophomores Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) and Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.)earned a tough 8-5 victory over the Monarchs' (3-2) top pair of Abby Caddick and Sydni Lewis.

Singles play saw the Vixens earn a second and final team point when de Souza picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Caddick.

The Vixens are set to open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on March 4 at 4 p.m. with a road trip to Randolph-Macon.
