SALEM, Va.  — Sweet Briar sophomore Ingrid Kalwitz Blanco scored her first goal of the season on Friday as the Vixens fell 6-1 to Roanoke at Kerr Stadium.

The Maroons (2-0, 2-0 ODAC) got the scoring started in the sixth minute, as Katherine Martin scored to give the hosts a 1-0 lead in the opening period.

Period two opened with Roanoke on the attack and saw the Maroons tally three goals to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.

Sweet Briar (0-2, 0-2 ODAC) battled throughout the opening half, as the Vixens fought for a pair of second-period shots and senior goalkeeper Rosemary Austin (Commerce Township, Mich.) tallied seven saves in the first 30 minutes.

Following two additional Roanoke goals in the third period, a Sweet Briar penalty corner turned into a goal as Kalwitz Blanco (Antofagasta, Chile) scored off an assist from senior Ingrid Kalwitz Blanco (Antofagasta, Chile).

The final quarter saw Austin record a pair of saves as the Vixens successfully fought off a six-shot period from Roanoke, as the Maroons wrapped up a 6-1 home victory.
