FERRUM, Va. — Sweet Briar sophomore Kaylah Bailey scored a pair of goals, and first-year Jess Roberts dished out three assists as the Vixens dropped 17-4 decision on the road to Ferrum.
Ferrum (5-3) opened the scoring at W.B. Adams Stadium with 29:44 remaining in the opening half when Megan Allen set the Panthers off on a four-goal streak.
Bailey (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored the Vixens' (1-6) first goal of the day with 26:01 left in the first period, off an assist from Roberts (Woodbury, N.Y.).
The eventual game-winner came with 23:08 left in the opening half as Ferrum's Erin Reynolds found the back of the net for the Panthers' fifth goal of the day.
Sweet Briar added two additional first-half goals as Roberts assisted on a tally from sophomore Zerah Chase (Virginia Beach, Va.) and first-year Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) converted a free position opportunity for Sweet Briar's third goal of the afternoon. Southard's goal was the final tally for either team in the opening half as Ferrum took a 12-3 lead into halftime.
Ferrum rattled off five additional goals in the second period, while Bailey converted her second of the day with 5:50 left in regulation.
Sweet Briar first-year Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) finished the day with 13 saves and four ground balls, while first-year Amber de Villers (Edison, N.J.) tallied three caused turnovers.
Sweet Briar wraps up its road slate on March 24, with a 5 p.m. opening draw at Randolph.
