SWEET BRIAR, Va. — First-year Jess Roberts scored her second collegiate goal on Saturday afternoon as the Vixens fell 18-1 to the Methodist Monarchs.
Methodist (1-2) opened the scoring when Keegan Foyles scored with 26:56 left in the opening half.
Foyles scored the eventual game-winner four minutes later off an assist from Kayla Nee.
Methodist rattled off nine-straight goals before Roberts (Woodbury, N.Y.) scored with 5:10 remaining in the first half.
The Monarchs tallied two additional first-half goals to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.
Methodist posted seven second-half goals to wrap-up an 18-1 road victory.
Sweet Briar (0-4) senior Madison Harpham (Monroe, Va.) led the Vixens with four ground balls, while sophomore Kaylah Bailey (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished the day with two draw controls. Bailey and Harpham led Sweet Briar with three caused turnovers each.
In goal, first-year Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded 12 saves.
Foyles led all scorers for Methodist with six goals.
Sweet Briar wraps-up a two-game homestand on March 11, with a 4 p.m. first draw scheduled against Randolph.
