AMHERST, Va. — Sweet Briar senior Rosemary Austin recorded nine saves on Tuesday evening, as the Vixens dropped a 3-0 decision to Eastern Mennonite at Amherst County High School.
The Royals (3-3, 3-3 ODAC) opened their account following the first penalty corner of the night. After Austin made an initial save on a try from Brandy Troutman, Skylar Hedgepeth corralled the rebound and fed Troutman, who scored on the second chance.
Troutman's tally was the lone goal of the opening half as Austin and Eastern Mennonite's Ann Ghally both recorded three saves in the first half of action.
The 34th minute of action saw the EMU lead increase to 2-0 when Juliana Ghally assisted on a goal by Morgan Tricaricco.
The final Eastern Mennonite tally came in the 50th minute off the stick of Ashley Maldonado.
Austin was active throughout the game for the Vixens (1-3, 1-3 ODAC), but the fourth period saw the senior record four saves, before ending the night with nine saves.
Senior Alexis Jones led the Vixens with three shots on the night.
Sweet Briar is back in action on Friday, April 9, for a 7 p.m. opening whistle against Shenandoah.
