AMHERST, Va. — Senior Rosemary Austin tallied 13 saves on 'senior night' as the Vixens dropped a 9-0 decision to the visiting Shenandoah Hornets at Amherst County High School.
Shenandoah (6-3, 6-3 ODAC). scored the would-be game-winner in the fourth minute when Farren Winter scored off an assist from Kelsey Jones.
The Hornets led the Vixens (1-4, 1-3 ODAC) 8-0 at halftime, before adding a ninth goal in the fourth period.
Serena Farmer and Abby Barefoot both finished the night with a pair of goals.
For the Vixens, Austin tallied a season-high 13 saves, while junior Brigitte Gorman and sophomore Rae Rae Dillon both took one shot each for Sweet Briar.
Following the conclusion of regulation, Sweet Briar honored Austin and fellow senior Alexis Jones for all their efforts and leadership throughout their four years at Sweet Briar.
Sweet Briar is set for an April 13 trip to Virginia Beach for a 1 p.m. meeting with Virginia Wesleyan.
