DANBURY, Conn. – The Sweet Briar NCEA Team earned more Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) awards today as the conference announced its 2022 Equestrian Single Discipline Major Awards and All-ECAC Teams.
Head coach Mimi Wroten earned the title of ECAC Equestrian South Region Single Discipline Coach of the Year after leading the Vixens to an 8-4 record and the ECAC Single Discipline South Regional title this past month.
First-year
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) claimed two major awards, Rider of the Year – Fences and Freshman of the Year – Fences. Atherton went 6-4 over the course of the season in fences competition and was named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) twice.
The Virginia native was also named to the ECAC-EQ All-Conference Fence Team and the ECAC-EQ All-Conference Flat Team along with junior
Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.). Freeburg held an 8-2 record when competing on the flat and went undefeated at the ECAC Championships.
The Vixens will be in action next at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships on April 3 in Lexington, Va.
