VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Sweet Briar tennis (13-3, 5-1 ODAC) swept Virginia Wesleyan (6-3, 2-1 ODAC) 9-0 on the road to hand them its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) loss of the season.
The Vixens started the match off strong in doubles play with both de Souza/Wandling and Kotany/Kamara winning their matches 8-1. The pairing of Caro/Simhambhatla kept their undefeated streak going with an 8-3 victory over Rogers/Brown at the No. 2 spot.
In singles play, both juniors
Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) and
Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) won their matches in straight sets with Wandling's victory over Kristina Abrams clinching the win for Sweet Briar.
Sophomore
Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) defeated Kaitlyn Totman, 6-1, 6-0, while senior
Alexia Alfaro (Laredo, Texas) took down Maya Brown, 6-3, 6-1, to remain undefeated this season.
Junior
Sofia Andrade (Latacunga, Ecuador) earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 singles slot and first-year
Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) completed the sweep for the Vixens with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) win over Christine Zalameda in the No. 2 slot.

- Wandling has now won 10-straight singles matches and holds an 11-1 record this season.
