SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Sweet Briar tennis (17-3, 8-1 ODAC) set a new program record for most wins in a single season when the team went earned four 9-0 victories today over Guilford, Randolph, Hollins and William Peace.
Seeing action in North Carolina, the Vixens earned four 8-0 doubles wins thanks to the pairings of de Souza/Wandling and Andrade/Guilarte at Guilford and Wandling/Guilarte and de Souza/Jones at William Peace. The team of Kamara/Jones defeated Reed/Parker to go up 3-0 at Guilford while Andrade/Kamara won due to a forfeit by the Pacers.

Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and first-year
Mattu Kamara (Freetown City, Sierra Leone) won both of their singles matches today in the fourth and fifth spots in straight sets.
At No. 1 singles, junior
Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) took down Madyson Schrieber of Guilford 6-1, 6-0 before getting a straight-set victory over Hayley McNair at William Peace. Juniors
Sofia Andrade (Latacunga, Ecuador) and
Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) won both matches today by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
Completing the sweep for the Sweet Briar was sophomore
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) who claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory against the Quakers before receiving a forfeit win in Raleigh.
Action in the Lynchburg area also got off to a good start with the Vixens going up 3-0 against both Randolph and Hollins after doubles play. With the doubles teams staying the same for both matches, Patino/Kotany won 8-1, 8-0, Simhambhatla/Caro won 8-1, 8-0, and Alfaro/Hurt won 8-3, 8-0.
First-year
Maria Caro (Bogota, Colombia) defeated Zeinab Elkhansa of Randolph and Isabelle Ingwerson of Hollins in straight-sets. Junior
Kate Kotany (Erd, Hungary) also earned a straight victory against the WildCats before taking down Carlia Kearney 6-1, 6-1 at home.
First-year
Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) held down the No. 1 position close to home, winning by scores of 6-1, 6-0 in Lynchburg and 6-2, 6-0 at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center. Junior
Nikhita Simhambhatla (Hyderabad, Telangana, India) reigned victories over Sabrina Dickerson, 6-0, 6-2, before earning a straight-set victory over Hannah Miller in front of the home crowd.
Senior
Alexia Alfaro (Laredo, Texas) was the third Vixen to earn a straight-set victory against Hollins after she earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at Randolph. First-year
Lily Hurt (Charlottesville, Va.), who won be default at Randolph, captured a win in her lone singles match of the day by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).
