BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Sweet Briar lacrosse (4-4, 1-1) fell to the Bryn Athyn Lions (3-2, 2-0) today on the road by a score of 17-3.
In a battle between the top-two teams in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) standings, the Lions managed to hold the Vixens scoreless through the first quarter of play. Sophomore
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) got Sweet Briar on the board with 11:20 remaining in the second to bring the game to 9-1.
The team would score two more goals, one each in the third and fourth quarter of play, thanks to first-year
Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.).
Both junior
Kaylah Bailey (Virginia Beach, Va.) and sophomore
Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) would lead the team in ground balls with three.
Highlights
- Sophomore goalkeeper Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) registered 13 saves, the highest save total in a game for her since facing Ferrum in 2021.
- Along with her goal, Southard also earned two caused turnovers.
- Bailey and Southard each won two draw controls.
