SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar field hockey (1-2, 0-0 CSAC) will welcome the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins (0-3, 0-0 ODAC) to Amherst County High School tomorrow, Sept. 8 for a contest starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Vixens are coming off a three-game week which saw a dominating 4-0 win over Goucher on Sept. 3 followed by a clash with No.10 Washington and Lee.

Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) tallied two goals in the victory against the Gophers while sophomore
Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) recorded a career-high 13 saves against the Generals.

- Sweet Briar came away with the 2OT 3-2 victory last time out against the Marlins in 2021.
- The Vixens currently sit third in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) standings.
- Jones ranks fifth in the conference in shots and third in goals while sophomore Kailey McCarthy (Atkinson, N.H.) is fourth in goals and third in assists.
- Maggiora breaks the top-five in goals against average, saves and saves per game and is also one of two goalkeepers in the conference to have recorded a shutout so far this season.
