VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (5-7, 1-3 ODAC) fell to the Virginia Wesleyan University Marlins (6-7, 2-2 ODAC) on the road today by a score of 2-0.
 
The Marlins got on the board early in the first, finding the back of the net less than five minutes into the game.
 
Despite shot chances by senior 
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.), junior 
Jolin Daughety (Williamsburg, Va.) and first-year 
Emmi Burdine (Huntington Beach, Calif.) the Vixens failed to get on the board during scoreless second and third quarters.
 
An additional tally by the home team early in the fourth would bring the game to its eventual 2-0 close.
 
In goal, junior goalkeeper 
Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) totaled two saves.
 
Highlights

- Both Jones and Burdine totaled two shots on goal.
