SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (5-8, 1-4 ODAC) honored its seniors before today's contest against the Bridgewater College Eagles (5-6, 3-2 ODAC) at Thayer Field. The Vixens would ultimately fall to the Eagles, 3-0.
With time expiring in a 0-0 first quarter, Daphne Daymude would get Bridgewater on the board to go up 1-0.
A scoreless second quarter of play would keep the Eagles' lead at one heading into halftime.
The visiting team had a two-goal period in the third, while a scoreless fourth would bring the game to its eventual 3-0 close.
Highlights
- Senior Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) led the team with three shots.
- Fellow senior Brynna Hughes (Richmond, Va.) recorded two shots on goal while first-year Gigi Hutman (Bordentown, N.J.) had one.
What's Next
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play will continue on the road next week with games against Ferrum and Randolph-Macon on Oct. 18 and Oct. 21, respectively.
