SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (6-10, 2-6 ODAC) closed out action at Thayer Field for the season with a 10-0 loss to the No. 11 University of Lynchburg Hornets (16-2, 8-0).
The Hornets got on the board early in the match, taking the 1-0 lead at the 2:46 mark.
The visiting team would increase its lead to three by the time ten minutes of play had passed. An additional tally at 11:34 brought the score to 4-0.
The Vixen defense stepped it up in the second quarter, holding Lynchburg to only a single goal to bring the score to 4-1 entering halftime.
The Hornets added two more goals in the third and three in the fourth to bring the final score to 10-0.
Highlights
- Junior Abby Lindsey (Providence Forge, Va.) recorded 11 saves in her first collegiate game in goal.
- Fellow junior Lara Jost (Würzburg, Germany) led Sweet Briar in shots.

The Vixens will close out the season at Shenandoah on Oct. 28.
