SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (0-2, 0-0 ODAC) came up short in its second-straight match against a nationally-ranked opponent today, falling to No.29 Swarthmore (2-0, 1-0 CC) by a score of 7-2.
The Vixens' lone doubles match victory came thanks to the pairing of Andrade/Patino. The duo took down Kumaran/Watts at the No. 2 position by a score of 8-7(8-6) to earn the victory.
In singles play, senior
Sofia Andrade (Latacunga, Ecuador) continued her win streak as she defeated Daniela Padron-Casti 8-5 at the No. 5 slot.
Sophomore
Ana Patino (Bogota, Colombia) put up a strong fight in her No. 2 singles match. Forcing the match to three sets before falling to Kathleen Shiffer by set scores of 6-1, 2-6, 0-6.
Senior
Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) also forced her opponent to an extended match. Despite coming up short against Erica Stutz at the No. 3 position, 1-6, 6-7(0-4) the Virginia native forced the second set to a tiebreak.
