STOW, Ohio – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (11-6, 5-0 ODAC) fell to the No. 30 Kenyon College Owls (8-3, 1-0 NCAC) today by a score of 8-1 in their third-straight match against a nationally ranked opponent.
The Vixens' lone victory of came at the hands of the doubles team of de Souza/Wandling who took down Dakos/Lazaridou at the No. 1 flight 8-3.
In singles play, junior
Isabela Guilarte once against took her opponent to three sets, this time at the No. 5 slot against Lalasa Nagireddy. Guilarte fell in the first set 7-6(7-2) before coming back to take the second set 6-1.
In the third set tiebreak, Nagireddy prevailed by a score of 10-1.
Senior
Kate Kotany (Erd, Hungary) also saw extra points played in her match as she took Catriona MacIntosh to a 7-5 score in the second set of her No. 6 singles match.
Highlights
- Guilarte has now either defeated or fell in a third set tiebreak to opponents from nationally ranked teams in five out of six matches this season.
- The duo of de Souza/Wandling earned their first victory of the season against an opponent from a nationally-ranked team today.
