SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (2-3, 0-0 ODAC) battled in a 1-0 loss to the College of Wooster Fighting Scots (2-1, 0-1 NCAC) this afternoon at Thayer Field.
Both sides were evenly matched as the game went scoreless through the first three-quarters of play.
The Vixens racked up a total of six shots from senior
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.), juniors
Jolin Daughety (Williamsburg, Va.) and
Lara Jost (Würzburg, Germany), sophomore
Carlina Christy (Denver, Pa.) and first-year
Emmi Burdine (Huntington Beach, Calif.) through the first 45 minutes of play.
The Fighting Scots finally broke the scoreless game at the 48:06 mark and despite a few more quality chances for the Vixens, the game concluded with a 1-0 victory for the visiting team.
Highlights
- Junior goalkeeper Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) totaled three saves in goal.
- Christy led the team in shots on goal while Jones had the highest overall shot total.
