HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (5-6, 1-2 ODAC) defeated the Eastern Mennonite University Royals (0-12, 0-3 ODAC) this afternoon by a score of 3-0.
 
Following the conclusion of a scoreless first quarter of play, junior Carson Tucker (Durham, N.C.) got the Vixens on the board with a little over a minute remaining in the second.
 
The team brought it's 1-0 lead into the fourth quarter after the third went scoreless.
 
Junior Sophia Bovino (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored the first goal of her career at the 47:49 mark to put Sweet Briar up 2-0.
 
Senior Lara Jost gave the Vixens the 3-0 victory thanks to her tally with four minutes remaining in the game.
 
Highlights

• Both senior Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) and first-year Trinity Towe (Chesapeake, Va.) split time in goal.
• Sophomore Gigi Hutman (Bordentown, N.J.) led the team in shots with five.

 
What's Next
The Vixens will head to Washington and Lee on Oct. 16th before hosting No. 15 Shenandoah on Oct. 19th for the team's Morgan's Message game.
