Field Hockey Tripped Up by Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (5-7, 1-3 ODAC) was tripped up by the Washington and Lee University Generals (8-4, 2-2 ODAC) on the road this evening, falling by a score of 7-0.
 
The Generals got on the board with their first and only goal of the first quarter at the 3:48 mark.
 
Two more a minute in and with less than five minutes remaining in the second gave the home team a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
 
Washington and Lee tacked on one more in the third and three more in the fourth to take the 7-0 victory.
 
All three goalkeepers for the Vixens saw action in tonight's game with senior Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) and first-years Reiyn Hart (Bridgton, Maine) and Trinity Towe (Chesapeake, Va.) recording five saves, two saves and one save, respectively.
 
Highlights
  • Senior Kailey McCarthy (Atkinson, N.H.), junior Jenna Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) and sophomore Emmi Burdine (Huntington Beach, Calif.) all tied for the team lead in shots.
  • Prevet also recorded her third defensive save of the season tonight.

The Vixens will return home to face No. 14 Shenandoah for the team's Morgan's Message game.
