Field Hockey Overcome by No. 14 Shenandoah

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (5-8, 1-4 ODAC) was overcome by the No. 14 Shenandoah University Hornets (12-2, 4-0) this afternoon at Thayer Field, falling by a score of 8-0.
 
Despite keeping play even through the first 10 minutes of action, the Hornets broke through at the 11:16 mark to take a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
 
Three more goals from the visitors gave them a four-goal lead heading into halftime.
 
Shenandoah tacked on three more goals in the third and one in the fourth to take home the 8-0 victory.
 
Highlights
  • Both senior Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) and first-year Reiyn Hart (Bridgton, Maine) saw action in goal, recording seven and five saves, respectively.
  • Senior Molly Booth (Orono, Maine) and junior Sophia Bovino (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the team in shots.
 
What's Next
The Vixens will head to No. 13 Lynchburg on Oct. 23rd before returning home for their Breast Cancer Awareness game against Roanoke on Oct. 26th.
