DANVILLE, Va. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (3-9-0, 0-7-0 ODAC) was topped by the Averett University Cougars (4-8-2, 3-5-0 ODAC) this evening by a score of 12-0.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead just over seven minutes into the game and added additional tallies at the 10 and 26-minute marks to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Vixens' best opportunity of the game came with seconds left in the first half as senior
Jillian Lewis's (Ellicott City, Md.) free kick attempt hit the post.
Nine additional goals from Averett brought the score to 12-0.
Highlights
- Senior Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) recorded nine saves in goal.
- First-year Electra Mcpherson (Madison Heights, Va.) led the team in shots and shots on goal.
