SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (5-10, 1-6 ODAC) closed out action at Thayer Field for the 2024 season this afternoon; falling to the Roanoke College Maroons (7-8, 2-4 ODAC) by a score of 4-0.
The Maroons got the scoring started early, taking a 1-0 lead at the two-minute mark.
Roanoke tacked on one more goal to increase its lead to two heading into the second quarter.
After a scoreless 15 minutes of action in the second, the visitors brought their 2-0 lead into halftime.
Another two-goal quarter for the Maroons in the third and a scoreless fourth brought the game to a 4-0 close.
Highlights
- First-years Reiyn Hart (Bridgton, Maine) and Trinity Towe (Chesapeake, Va.) each saw time in goal, recording four and six saves, respectively.
- Sophomore Gigi Hutman (Bordentown, N.J.) led the team in shots.
What's Next
The Vixens will wrap up the 2024 season on the road next week at Southern Virginia on Oct. 28th and Bridgewater on Nov. 1st.
