VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (0-1) dropped its season opener against the Virginia Wesleyan University Marlins (1-0, 0-0 ODAC) this afternoon by a score of 12-1.
The Vixens' lone goal of the game was the first one scored as sophomore
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) found the back of the net on a woman-up opportunity less than two minutes into the game.
The Marlins dominated the rest of the game, scoring three goals in each of the four quarters of play to reach their 12-goal total.
In goal, senior
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded 12 saves.
Highlights
- Sophomore Ashley Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) recorded the assist on Schofield's goal.
- Schofield now has goals in two-straight season openers.
