SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team was named Reserve High Point Team in the first of back-to-back shows hosted by the University of Mary Washington at EKG Stables today.
Senior
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.), junior
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and sophomores
Leah Partington (Richmond, Va.) and
Caitlyn Uimari (Marquette, Mich.) all claimed first in their respective classes in Spotsylvania.
Southard took the top spot in intermediate flat while Atherton, Partington and Uimari placed first in open fences, novice flat and novice flat, respectively.
Capturing second place for the Vixens were junior
Emily Roberts (Goochland, Va.) in limit flat, sophomores
Emma Evans (Chesapeake, Va.) in pre-novice,
Audrey Flattich (Statesboro, Ga.) in open flat,
Sarah Pastula (Rockford, Mich.) in limit fences and
Davis Shiflett (Louisa, Va.) in novice and first-year
Darien Murphy (Jaffrey, N.H.) in limit flat.
Pastula also went on to claim third in limit flat and additional top-three finishes were added on by junior
Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.) and sophomores
Maggie Booth (Marietta, Ga.) and
Cameron Fox (Williamsburg, Va.) in intermediate flat, open fences and intro, respectively.
Sweet Briar also saw a fourth-place finish by Flattich in limit fences.
Rounding out the field for the team was senior
Katelyn Jones (Richmond, Texas) who secured sixth in intermediate fences.
Highlights
- Today's show marked the first collegiate appearance for Murphy and Uimari.
- Both Booth and Vansickle saw fifth-place finishes in their other events of the day; open flat and intermediate fences, respectively.
What's Next
The Vixens will be back in action at EKG Stables tomorrow.
