SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 49 Sweet Briar College Tennis team (12-1, 4-0 ODAC) remained perfect in conference play thanks to a 9-0 sweep of Hollins University (0-5, 0-5 ODAC) on senior day.
The Vixens kicked off the match with a perfect 8-0 score in all three doubles contests.
The duo of Caro/I. Guilarte defeated E. Jones/P. Jones at No. 1 doubles while Jones/Patino took down Crookshanks/Ingwerson at No. 2.
The No. 3 doubles victory was earned by the pairing of Bovard/Minton.
In singles play, five out of the six matches were won by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Senior
Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) took down Peyton Jones at the No. 1 spot while junior
Maria Caro (Bogota, Colombia) earned a victory over Emily Jones at No. 2.
The No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches were won by first-years
Guusje van Eekelen (Heeze, Netherlands) and
Maggie Minton (Wytheville, Va.), respectively.
Sophomore
Atty Bestwick (Durham, N.C.) earned her No. 5 victory over Sasha Mingo while senior
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) helped round out the sweep for Sweet Briar with a win against Arabella Crookshanks at No. 6 singles.
