No. 49 Tennis Closes Out Regular Season Against No. 21 Washington and Lee

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College Tennis team (17-3, 8-2 ODAC) closed out the 2024 regular season against the No. 21 Washington and Lee Generals (14-1, 10-0 ODAC) this afternoon, falling by a score of 9-0.

The Generals took the lead following the completion of doubles, securing a win in all three of the matches contested.

The top team in the conference's dominance continued into singles play with only one match going beyond the normal six games needed for victory on its way to the 9-0 win.

Senior Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) once again forced extra games in her first set of action. Guilarte forced No. 37 Gabi Moss to need seven games to win set one after coming from behind to win five games herself.

Highlights
  • This marks the first time since 2022 that the No. 2 match or higher needed to go to extras for the victory.
  • Juniors Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) and Maria Caro (Bogota, Colombia) and first-year Julia Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) all came back stronger in their second sets of action.
