WOOSTER, Ohio – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (1-1, 0-0 ODAC) secured the double overtime victory against The College of Wooster Fighting Scots (0-1, 0-0 NCAC) this afternoon to conclude its Ohio road trip.
The first quarter of play saw the two teams truly contest one another defensively as Sweet Briar totaled the only two scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes.
The Vixens would go on to outshoot Wooster 11-9 over the next three quarters and one overtime period, however, the game remained at zero all following the conclusion of 70 minutes of action.
The game-winning goal off the stick of sophomore
Gigi Hutman (Bordentown, N.J.) came at the 72-minute mark of the contest. Senor
Kailey McCarthy found Hutman all alone behind the defense who then threaded the ball through the goalkeepers legs to secure the victory.
Highlights
- This marks the second-straight game with a goal scored by Hutman and an assist tallied by McCarthy.
- With today's victory, Sweet Briar earned its first victory over Wooster in recent history.

The Vixens will be back in action in a week as they head to Meredith on Sept. 8th.
