RALEIGH, N.C. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team (1-2, 0-0 ODAC) fell to the Meredith College Avenging Angels (1-1) this afternoon by a score of 3-1.
Senior
Kailey McCarthy (Atkinson, N.H.) scored the lone goal for the Vixens to open up the game a little over eight minutes into action.
Meredith tied things up six minutes into the second quarter and a scoreless third quarter saw the two teams remaining in a one-one deadlock heading into the fourth.
However, a pair of goals for the Avenging Angels less than two minutes apart gave the home team the eventual 3-1 victory.
In goal, senior
Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) recorded four saves.
