WACO, Texas – Senior
Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.) was honored by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) as the Standout Student-Athlete of the Month, the association announced today, Oct. 2nd.
Felton, a biology major, was recently recognized at Sweet Briar's Founder Day ceremonies as a Nancy Godwin Baldwin '57 Scholar. The Georgia native was commended for her leadership and demonstration of academic achievements.
This season kicked off with Felton winning both her points in the Vixens' opening meet against Centenary (N.J.) on Sept. 26th with at least a 10-point difference in both scores. In fences, Felton earned an 85 against 72 and on the flat, she earned an 84 to top a 74.
"Wyette is a great representative of a student-athlete leader. She is captain of the team and leads through example in and out of the classroom," commented head coach
Mimi Wroten '93.
Every month, the NCEA recognizes student-athletes for their accomplishments in the ring; however, the NCEA would like to highlight athletes for their outstanding performances outside of the ring, including academics, philanthropy, outstanding attitude and embodiment of an ideal teammate.
This marks Felton's first monthly honor from the NCEA.
