Lacrosse Opens Season Against Alma

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (0-1, 0-0 ODAC) opened up the 2025 season at Thayer Field this afternoon, falling to the Alma College Scots (1-0, 0-0 MIAA) by a score of 20-4.
 
The Scots got off to a fast start, tallying the first 10 goals of the match.
 
With a little over a minute remaining in the first quarter of play, junior Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) found the back of the net to get the Vixens on the board.
 
Alma tallied an additional goal to end the first and tacked on three more in the third to go up 14-1.
 
Junior Ashley Prevet's (Nesconset, N.Y.) tally as time wound down in the second brought the score to 14-2 entering halftime.
 
The third quarter saw the Scots add three more goals to their total while Schofield got the final tally of the third and Prevet the first of the fourth to set the score at 17-4.
 
Three more goals from Alma brought the game to its eventual 20-4 close.
 
In goal, first-year Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) made 14 saves in her first collegiate game.
 
Highlights
  • Seven Vixens made their collegiate debut today.
  • Seitz led the team with eight ground balls while senior Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) recorded six ground balls and six caused turnovers.

The Vixens will head to Pfeiffer on Feb. 27th.
