Lacrosse Bested by EMU

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (0-5, 0-2 ODAC) was bested by the Eastern Mennonite University Royals (4-5, 2-1 ODAC) this evening at Meyer Field, falling by a score of 21-5.
 
The first quarter of play was controlled well by the Royals as they ended the 15 minutes of action up 6-0.
 
EMU opened up action in the second quarter as well with two goals in the first five minutes to extend its lead to eight.
 
Junior Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) got the Vixens on the board with her first goal of the game and ninth of the season as Sweet Briar was a woman up at the 10:06 mark. She then went on to score two more to bring the score to 8-3.
 
With two more goals scored by the Royals in the closing minutes of the second quarter, the visitors took a 10-3 lead into halftime.
 
The third quarter of play saw EMU notch six to earn a 16-3 lead heading into the fourth. Senior Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.) earned her first of the season while a woman up to put the game at 16-4 while the Royals answered right back to once again go up by thirteen.
 
Junior Ashley Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) tallied her fourth of the season to bring the score to 17-5 and EMU closed the game out with four answered goals to end the game at 21-5.
 
First-year Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) totaled eight saves through 45 minutes of action while sophomore Lizzie Mehl (Richmond Hill, Ga.) made four saves in her first 15 minutes in goal this season.
 
Highlights
  • Schofield has now scored two or more goals in three out of the five games contested so far.
  • Both senior Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) and first-year Larkin Shire (Caroline County, Va.) totaled three caused turnovers while Seitz and fellow first-year Elise Palazzo (Allentown, Pa.) registered four ground balls.
