LEXINGTON, Va. – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (8-4, 4-1 ODAC) fell to the No. 13 Washington and Lee University Generals (7-4, 4-0 ODAC) on the road today by a score of 7-0.
In doubles action, the duo of Guilarte/Patino put up a strong showing against the General's No. 1 team of Long/Lorenz, winning the match 6-4 while the No. 3 pairing of Lima/Minton managed to take two games from Donovan/Webb.
Senior
Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) battled No. 30 Allie Murrell at the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-3 and sophomore
Juli Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) also took on ranked competition in her No. 1 match against regionally-ranked Lauren Long.
Junior
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and both sophomores
Isadora Lima (Natal, Brazil) and
Maggie Minton (Wytheville, Va.) had stronger second-set showings in their matches while sophomore
Lucia Bovard (Mount Pleasant, N.C.) took one game in each of her No. 6 sets.
Highlights
- The duo of Guilarte/Patino is the first doubles pairing to win against Washington and Lee since 2023.
- At least two Vixens won three or more singles games for the ninth straight outing against the Generals.
