ASHLAND, Va. – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (9-4, 5-1 ODAC) earned a 6-1 road win over the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets (5-4, 2-4 ODAC) today.
The Vixens started the match by earning the doubles point with two victories. The No. 2 duo of Bovard/Caracciolo defeated Letellier/Turner, 6-4 while the No. 3 pairing of Lima/Minton earned a 6-0 victory over Gaines/Seward.
In singles action, junior
Lucia Bovard (Mount Pleasant, N.C. ) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 against Mary Blair Seward while sophomores
Isadora Lima (Natal, Brazil) and
Maggie Minton (Wytheville, Va.) won their No. 4 and No. 5 matches by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 60-, 6-1, respectively.
Junior
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) took down Meckenzie Letellier at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and sophomore
Juli Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) helped round out Sweet Briar's six points with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Catherine Mowry at No. 2.
