LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 75 Sweet Briar College tennis team (10-4, 6-1 ODAC) earned a 4-3 victory over the University of Lynchburg Hornets (6-4, 3-3 ODAC) today at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.
The Vixens started the match off strong, earning the doubles point after taking victories in all three doubles matches.
Both the No. 1 doubles pairing of Guilarte/Patino and the No. 2 doubles team of Bovard/Caracciolo saw 6-1 victories in their matches.
The duo of Lima/Minton took home a 6-0 win against Grochowski/McAtee at the No. 3 flight.
Sophomore
Maggie Minton (Wytheville, Va.) was the first to complete her singles match thanks to a speedy 6-0, 6-0 win over Harper Dodd at No. 4.
After victories by the Hornets in both No. 1 and No. 3 singles, the match became tied up with both teams sitting at two points.
Sophomore
Isadora Lima (Natal, Brazil) fought for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Ashley Hair to put Sweet Briar up 3-2.
The win was clinched by junior
Lucia Bovard (Mount Pleasant, N.C.) who earned a 6-2, 6-0 No. 5 singles win against Reese McAtee.
Highlights
- With a victory today, Head Coach Dustin Hale earned his 100th win at Sweet Briar.
- Lima is undefeated in matches that go to three sets with a 6-0 career record.

The Vixens will be on the road all of next week with matches at Hollins, Shenandoah, Dickinson and Penn State Harrisburg.
