WINCHESTER, Va. – The Sweet Briar College indoor track & field team headed to Shenandoah University today to compete in the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier.
The action kicked off with the long jump finals at 11 a.m. First-year
Veronica Barney (Leesburg, Va.) set a new personal best with a jump of 4.46m to place ninth. Both first-year
Electra McPherson (Madison Heights, Va.) and senior
Molly Booth (Orono, Maine) also competed in the events and recorded distances of 4.02m and 3.56m to place 11th and 12th, respectively.
Five Vixens contested the 60-meter dash. McPherson led the way with a 12th-place finish and time of 8.61 followed by senior
Julianna McIntyre (Englewood, Fla.) in 13th with a time of 8.70. Senior
Alia Peets (Devonshire, Bermuda), first-year
Mila Mutabdzija (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and sophomore
Ella Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.) placed 14th – 16th with times of 8.93, 9.70 and 11.50, respectively.
Barney saw another top-10 finish, personal best and program record in the triple jump as she placed sixth with a distance of 9.58m.
Sophomore
Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) competed in the 1-mile run and completed the race in 6:27.72 in seventh while junior
Carolina Wilson (Hedgesville, Va.) recorded a personal-best time of 2:55.63 in her third-place finish in the 800-meter run.
First-year
Michaela Carr (Springfield, Va.) and senior
Olivia Garrett (Williamsburg, Va.) concluded action for the Vixens in the shot put. Carr earned a distance of 5.57m to come in seventh while Garrett finished in eighth thanks to her personal best throw of 5.53m.
