LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College outdoor track & field time set multiple program and personal records at today's Hill City Twilight hosted by Lynchburg.
Program records began falling in the very first event of the day as first-year
Veronica Barney (Leesburg, Va.) jumped a distance of 4.62m in the long jump to place seventh.
The Vixens also earned top-10 finishes in the 100-meter dash as first-year
Electra McPherson (Madison Heights, Va.) finished ninth and first-year
Mila Mutabdzija (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) came in 10th with times of 13.82 and 15.34, respectively.
Junior
Jaiana Gray (Chicago, Ill.) put her name in the record book for the hammer throw with a distance of 26.29m while senior
Olivia Garrett (Williamsburg, Va.) also recorded a personal-best distance of 15.10m. First-year Michael Carr (Springfield, Va.) finished right behind the pair with a throw of 13.13m and fellow first-year
Kathleen Borum (Chesapeake, Va.) rounded out the field with a distance of 13.01m.
Gray also set the program record for the shot put with her throw of 10.07m placing her in sixth. Carr finished in the top-10 as well with a throw distance of 5.83m while Garrett and Borum recorded throws of 5.67m and 4.85m, respectively.
The fourth program record to drop came in the 400-meter dash courtesy of senior
Alia Peets (Devonshire, Bermuda). Peets completed the race in 1:06.22 to place ninth, followed by sophomore
Ella Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.) who placed 10th with a time of 1:27.58.
Peets also saw a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash thanks to her time of 29.68 and was followed across the finish line by Mutabdzija whose time of 31.96 put her in 10th.
Highlights
- Barney also set the new program record in the triple jump with a jump of 9.51m to best her previous outdoor record by just under .20 meters.
- Sophomore Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) shattered her previous 1500-meter run program record by over 15 seconds to record a time of 5:45.74.

The Vixens will contest one last meet, the Liberty Twilight Qualifier, on May 6th.
