HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College outdoor track & field team saw action at the EMU Invitational today and saw multiple new program and personal bests despite the rainy weather that persisted.
The action kicked off with the hammer throw as junior
Jaiana Gray (Chicago, Ill.) threw a program-record distance of 23.89m. Sophomore
Quinn Gorman (Leesburg, Va.) was not far behind Gray's preciously-set record with a distance of 20.41m while first-year
Kathleen Borum (Chesapeake, Va.) recorded a distance of 12.65m.
In the shot put, Gray once again led the way with her throw of 9.59m to put her in eighth followed by first-year
Michaela Carr (Springfield, Va.) and her throw of 5.65m.
Borum and senior
Olivia Garrett (Williamsburg, Va.) also competed in the event and recorded distances of 5.35m and 5.23m, respectively.
Senior
Molly Booth (Orono, Maine) contested the long jump and placed ninth with a distance of 4.09m while first-year
Electra McPherson (Madison Heights, Va.) finished right behind her in tenth with a jump of 4.02m.
The Vixens also set a new mark in the 4x100-meter relay as Booth, seniors
Julianna McIntyre (Englewood, Fla.) and
Alia Peets (Devonshire, Bermuda) and McPherson combined for a time of 56.37.
Sophomore
Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) competed in both the 1500-meter run and 800-meter run. Viccora placed 10th in the 1500 and ninth in the 800 with times of 6:08.65 and 2:59.81, respectively.
In the 100-meter dash, McIntyre led the way with a fifth-place finish after crossing the finish line at the 13.74 mark. McPherson also placed in the top-10 with her time of 13.89 putting her in eighth.
Booth's time of 14.56 put her in 10th while first-year
Mila Mutabdzija (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) finished in 12th with a time of 15.27.
Today's events were rounded out with action in the 200-meter dash. Peets placed 11th after completing the race in 29.57 while Mutabdzija recorded a time of 32.65.
Highlights
- Gray bested her previous program record of 8.85m in the shot put.
- Booth's long jump distance of 4.09m marks a new personal best for her in the event.

The Vixens will head to the Randolph Invitational on April 19th.
