SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (0-11, 0-8 ODAC) battled in today's evening matchup against the Randolph College WildCats (1-12, 1-8 ODAC), falling by a score of 13-3.
Randolph dominated the first quarter of action, scoring four goals and holding Sweet Briar scoreless.
After opening up the scoring in the second quarter to go up by five, the Vixens got their first goal on the board.
Senior
Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.) found the back of the net at the 14:18 mark to bring the score to 5-1.
With five more tallies from the visitors, Randolph took a 9-1 lead into halftime.
Sweet Briar kicked off the scoring in the second half of action as Foster netted her second of the game. Three more goals by the WildCats in the third quarter were bookended by Foster's third with time winding down in the third quarter to cut their lead to 12-3.
Randolph tallied the only goal in the fourth quarter of play to earn the 13-3 victory.
Senior
Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) got her first career start in goal and saw 20:18 minutes of action while sophomore
Lizzie Mehl (Richmond Hill, Ga.) completed the final 39:42.
Highlights
- Both junior Ashley Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) and first-year Larkin Shire (Caroline County, Va.) tied their career highs in draw controls with five and four, respectively.
- Prevet also led the team in ground balls with five while senior Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) earned a team-high five caused turnovers.
