WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 75 Sweet Briar College tennis team (12-4, 7-1 ODAC) reigned over the Shenandoah University Hornets (7-5, 4-4 ODAC) this evening, taking home a 5-2 victory.
The Vixens secured the doubles point thanks to victories by the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams.
The duo of Bovard/Caracciolo earned a 7-6 (7-5) win against Cherwien/Talko while Lima/Minton defeated Gillette/Montrief by a score of 6-3.
In singles play, sophomore
Juli Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) was the first to wrap up her match with a speedy, 6-0, 6-1 takedown of Olivia Guzzo at No. 2.
Both junior
Lucia Bovard (Mount Pleasant, N.C.) and first-year
Maggie Minton were efficient in their No. 6 and No. 5 singles matches, respectively. Bovard was victorious against Leigha Montrief, 6-3, 6-1, and Minton saw a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kendra Gillette.
Junior
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) earned the fifth point for Sweet Briar with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 against Allison Cherwien.
Highlights
- Minton currently has the longest singles win streak on the team with four-straight victories.
- Sweet Briar has not lost a match to Shenandoah since the 2018-19 season.

The Vixens will hit the road to take on Dickinson and Penn State Harrisburg on April 18th and 19th, respectively.
