OCALA, Fla. – The No. 2 single discipline Sweet Briar College NCEA team (5-3, 3-1 ODAC) fell to the No. 3 College of Charleston Cougars (9-3) by a score of 7-3 in today's National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championship semifinal meet.
The Vixens fell behind following the completion of action over fences with senior
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) securing the only point.
Atherton totaled an average score of 84.3 on JJ for a 22-point margin of victory over Maddi Cardelli.
On the flat, senior
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) and junior
Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.) scored points for Sweet Briar.
Peterson totaled a 77.3 on Diablo while Felton registered a 71.3 on Dash. The duo earned margins of victories of four and three points, respectively.
Highlights
- Atherton's score of 84.3 over fences was tied for the highest score in the meet.
- Peterson closes out the 2024-25 season undefeated on the flat in meets contested away from the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
