NEW MARKET, Va. – The Sweet Briar College cross country team saw action at the JMU Invitational today and placed eighth in the meet hosted by James Madison.
First-year
Elaina Sherline (Morehead City, N.C.) led the Vixens across the line in 44th place at the 24:51.3 mark.
Fellow first-year
Shiloh Thompson (Ruckersville, Va.) and
Ella Cate Johnson (Henderson, N.C.) were not far behind with times of 25:50.7 and 27:12.3, respectively.
Junior
Amanda Costa (Watertown, N.Y.) recorded a time of 28:02.0 while first-year
Jillian Francis (Montgomery, Texas) completed the 5k race in 30:44.6.
Highlights
- Tonight's race marked the first 5k of Costa's collegiate career.
- Francis set a new 5k personal record.

The Vixens will compete at the Roanoke XC Invitational on Oct. 18th.
