SALEM, Va. – The Sweet Briar College indoor track & field team closed out the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) indoor track & field championships in ninth out of 11 total teams with four more events contested today.
Junior
Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) placed 19th in the one-mile run with a time of 6:22.18 to kick things off.
In the 800-meter run, first-year
Elaina Sherline (Morehead City, N.C.) posted the best showing by a Vixen at the meet after placing fourth. Sherline crossed the finish line at the 2:23.18 mark for a new personal best.
Fellow first-year
Tyasia Spencer (Fredericksburg, Va.) placed 21st in the 200-meter dash with her own personal-best time of 28.21.
Sweet Briar closed the meet out with a seventh-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Spencer, first-year
Azshalay Utley (Columbus, Ohio), Viccora and Sherline completed the race in 4:35.78 to set a new program record.
Highlights
- Sherline's 800-meter time of 2:23.18 marks a new program record.
- Spencer also put her at the top of the record book in the 200-meter with her time of 28.21.
