HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College outdoor track & field team saw action in five events today as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships kicked off at EMU.
Sweet Briar athletes competed across both track and field events, showing steady effort and flashes of progress.
On the track, first-year
Tyasia Spencer (Fredericksburg, Va.) led the way with a 13.19 finish in the 100m prelims, running into a strong 2.6 m/s wind, and later returned to place 16th in the 400m prelims with a time of 1:04.84.
Teammate, first-year
Azshalay Utley (Columbus, Ohio), also competed in the 400m, finishing 17th in 1:09.60.
In the field events, sophomore
Karissa Boyce (Red Rock, Texas) highlighted the day with a personal best throw of 12.88 meters (42-03) in the javelin, earning a 17th-place finish and marking a clear step forward in her development.
Senior
Jaiana Gray (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a mark of 8.77 meters (28-09.25) to place 24th in the shot put.
