HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College outdoor track & field team saw action over the past two days at the EMU Heritage Invitational.
In field events, first-year
Elena Fomin (Middlesex County, Va.) cleared 2.21 meters in the pole vault for second place.
Senior
Jaiana Gray (Chicago, Ill.) threw 9.34 meters in the shot put and 28.30 meters in the hammer throw, and sophomore
Karissa Boyce (Red Rock, Texas) finished with a throw of 11.07 meters in the javelin.
On the track, first-year
Tyasia Spencer (Fredericksburg, Va.) ran 13.15 in the 100 meters, while fellow first-year
Azshalay Utley saw a time of 14:13 in the event. First-year
Elaina Sherline (Morehead City, N.C.) placed fifth in the 800 meters in 2:41.82 and second in the 1500 meters in 5:13.79.
Junior
Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) saw action in the both 800 meters and 1500 meters as well and finished with times of 2:45.38 and 5:54.49, respectively.
The 4x400 relay team of Spencer, Utley, Viccora and Sherline ran 4:33.62 for a new program record and second place
Highlights
- Sherline set a new program record in the 1500m, besting her previous time of 5:21.00.
- Gray set new season records in both the shot put and hammer throw.

The Vixens will contest the WildCat Invitational on April 18th.
