SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (0-12, 0-7 ODAC) concluded action at home for the 2026 season with a 20-1 loss to the Guilford College Quakers (8-7, 3-4 ODAC) this evening at Meyer Field.
Guilford struck first at 13:08 of the opening quarter, and the game quickly tilted as the visitors scored five times in the first seven and a half minutes. Sweet Briar's best early answer came from first-year
Lyndsay Davis (Mocksville, N.C.), who got a shot on frame at 9:12 in the first quarter, forcing a save, but Guilford kept converting possessions into goals and built a 10-0 lead by the end of the period.
In the second quarter, the Vixens settled in a bit defensively, with sophomore Lark Shire (Caroline County, Va.) making a free-position save at 8:12. However, Guilford still added five more goals before halftime, including scores from its top finishers and another man-up marker, to go into the break ahead 15-0.
The third quarter followed the same pattern, with Guilford extending the margin to 20-0 by 2:15 remaining in the period. Even so, Shire continued to battle in net and made additional stops, while the Vixens generated a few moments of pressure through draws and ground-ball efforts. Sweet Briar finally broke through with 42 seconds left, when Davis scored unassisted to prevent the shutout and close the day on a positive note for the home side.
